Buying Bed Sheets

A bed sheet is a rectangular piece of cloth primarily used to cover a mattress. These sheets are usually placed on beds and sofas. A bed covering is usually sewed around the edges to form four separate seams. It helps the sheet to properly fit on the mattress.Bed sheets can be classified in two main varieties, flat and fitted. The fitted sheets have elastic attached to them. Different types of materials used to manufacture bed sheets are cotton, satin, linen, silk, rayon, fiber, bamboo, polyester, polypropylene and wool.Bed sheets made from cotton are highly durable. Sheets manufactured from Pima cotton are also known for their premium quality and softness.

Further, sheets made from polyester, bamboo and silk are very soft, silky and wrinkle resistant. Bedding manufactured from non-woven polypropylene fabric are disposable and very inexpensive. Today, the market offers bed coverings in a variety of sizes, including twin, twin XL, double, queen or king size. It is important to select a sheet depending on the size of your bed. The sheet you choose should be large enough to cover the bed. Measuring the mattress will prevent you from choosing an ill-fitted bed cover that does not fit the mattress. Thread Count: The density of the threads in a fabric is known as thread count. Bed sheets with higher thread count are usually softer. Sheets with fewer thread count are usually coarser. Other things to consider before purchasing a bed cover are texture, color and style. The color of the sheet should match with the rest of the bedding, such as pillow covers and blankets.
